What sinning against the Gospel entails
From The Christian’s Daily Walk. Headings are not the author’s.
Unsound faith does not rest by faith in His [God’s] promises in all seasons of adversity and prosperity (1 John 2:6). Unsound faith does not look to Jesus to moderate fear and hope (2 Cor 4:13 & Heb 12:12). It also does not trust or rely upon Christ alone (in the prescribed way) for justification and salvation, by submitting unto the righteousness of God in Him (Rom 10:3, 4).
[Impenitency is] not seriously affected with a humbling sense of the odious nature of sin and not searching out one’s offences, but [rather] hides and extenuates [excuses] them (Rom 2:3, 4).
[It also includes] not abasing oneself for sins (which are so many and aggravated) against all the love of the Father, the grace of the Son, and the strivings of the Holy Spirit (2 Cor 6:2).
[It lacks] a resolve and vigilant forsaking of sin and does not bring forth fruits meet [suitable] for repentance (Matt 3:8).
Despair of God’s mercy in Christ Jesus is saying, “There is no hope.” (Jer 2:25)
